ad forclosure crisisA short sale is an honorable exit strategy in a depressed market. If you are considering a short sale I am sure you have tried other options too. The first 3 things to do before listing your home a short sale is:
1. Talk to your Mortgage servicer or a housing counselor ASAP. They may be able to work with you on lowering your payments.
2. Call a short sale attorney and your CPA to see how this exit strategy from your home may affect your taxes, and credit. Every situation is different and your REALTOR , unless they have a License to practice Law as well, cannot advise you on the important possible ramifications.
3. Gather financial information before meeting your REALTOR. Most likely you will need at least a hardship letter, tax returns, bank statements and other forms your bank requests. Then call me.
